Following its traditional Orientation Week and Zero Week, the Central European University (CEU) opened its 2023/24 academic year in Vienna. In her address, CEU President and Rector, Shalini Randeria noted, “CEU is much more than just an educational institution. We are a diverse community of students, faculty and staff from over 100 different countries, and we proudly stand for the values of open society, of academic freedom, and of critical thinking in the face of growing intolerance, authoritarianism and dogmatism in the world today.”

The Blinken OSA Archivum in Budapest is proud the remain part of this endeavor despite the geographical distance, contributing to the CEU’s mission not only as its historical archive, but also by the courses our staff offers at several departments of the university.

The Blinken OSA Archivum offers undergraduate and postgraduate academic courses and specializations to CEU students, organized in cooperation with the departments of Legal Studies and History, and for CEU’s annual Summer University (SUN). The Archivum’s teaching staff have been fully directing or co-teaching mandatory historiography courses or seminars on the uses of archives, history writing, and legal issues. Underpinned by the Archivum’s holdings, the lectures address the historian’s craft, truth, and objectivity, and study human rights issues and related cinematic and evidentiary practices.

In the 2023/24 fall and winter term, the Archivum staff will continue commuting between Budapest and Vienna, to teach the following courses below. For more information, visit our Teaching site!
