Blinken OSA Archivist Mark László-Herbert attended the 28th ICARUS Convention in Aubervilliers, France (May 23-25, 2022), where he gave a presentation on “The Guiding Principles for Safe Havens for Archives at Risk (2018) Put into Practice in a Hungarian Private Archive: Rescuing Public Collections and Collections of Wide Public Relevance at the Vera and Donald Blinken Open Society Archives.” In his talk Mark argued that while we are still mourning the forced departure from Budapest of Central European University (of which Blinken OSA remains an organizational unit), collections of documents at risk increasingly often find sanctuary at Blinken OSA, further raising its status as a safe haven for archives at risk, and thus, further strengthening the reputation of Blinken OSA in the world of archives. The International Centre for Archival Research is a fast-growing network of more than 180 archival institutions from over 35 countries in Europe and in North America. Blinken OSA is a member of ICARUS since 2018.
