Yulia Karpova is a design historian focusing on post-war Soviet Union. She holds a PhD in History from Central European University, Budapest. In 2016-2018, she was a Marie Curie Research Fellow at the School of Communication and Culture at Aarhus University, Denmark. She is the author of the book Comradely objects: Design and material culture In Soviet Russia, 1960s-1980s (Manchester University Press, to be published in 2020). Since 2012 she has been involved in two projects at Blinken OSA: Soviet and Russian Television Monitoring and Published Samizdat. Currently she is processing the collection of financial papers of the Open Society Institute Russia (1995-2001).
